Forest fires and silver linings
Well it’s been a hot minute since we’ve had an update and a lot has happened since then. Blair took off on her planned solo canoe trip but unfortunately was forced to evacuate after a week of travel. What started as a 0.1 hectare fire of RED065 in Ontario on July 2nd rapidly grew to several hundred and then thousand hectares in a matter of days. With several other fires brewing in her area, and a developing eye problem, Blair backtracked and we picked her up at her drop off. You can see the route map here. It’s a shame when you have to back out of a trip you’ve been planning for long time but in our opinion, it takes a heck of a lot of wisdom and courage to say no and turn around. While disappointing, it opened up new opportunities to do a different trip. We’ll be heading out to backpack the North Coast Trail in British Columbia. We love canoeing but we also like to switch things up sometimes and a road trip followed by backpacking in one of the wettest and rainiest regions of Canada sounded just about right! Keep an eye on our Instagram and Youtube channel for videos and pictures upon our return. Until then, any orders will be fulfilled after our expected return of August 18th. Happy travels everyone and remember that keeping safe just means a guarantee for future adventures!
Cheers
Eric and Blair
