Frequently asked questions.
How are your maps waterproofed?
All maps are laminated, meaning you don’t have to use a map case if you don’t want to (but a map case does help to keep it all organized!).
How do you research your routes?
We’ve paddled the majority of the routes we offer, making our first hand knowledge and experience unique to our map products.
We also consult available route plans and guide books, and try to gather as much local knowledge of the area by talking to community members when we can.
Although we do our best to make sure everything is accurate, things do change. We encourage and appreciate feedback on how to improve maps from everyone who uses our products.
I can’t find my route. How do I request a map you don’t currently offer?
We love new routes and challenges. Send us an email and let us know what area you’re interested in and we’ll take it from there.
How do you ship your products?
We ship via Canada Post and default to the least expensive delivery option. If you’re in a rush let us know when you place your order.
How do you price your maps?
As paddlers ourselves we can understand that the sticker price can be a bit shocking sometimes. Our pricing reflects a price per page model. For unannotated maps (no portages, rapids, campsites marked, just the original 1:50000 topographical map), we charge 12.50$ per 11×17 laminated map. For the research and first hand experience that we bring and annotate our maps with, we charge an extra 5$ per map.
For most 26×37 inch full topographical maps it would cost around 15-30 dollars depending on if you got it laminated and there would be no annotations. These maps often also come with a lot of unused space that you end up paying for. We believe that we ultimately bring a better product that is more efficient and useful to paddlers by editing the maps to have the most important information in a manageable space. The work is informed by our own many years of paddling and what we find works best.
We do try to be considerate of cost which is also why we offer the unannotated maps at a lower price. That said, our dream is to share and provide the tripping information for all over Canada and we spend many hours designing that into our annotated maps which is where the extra value per page comes in.
